Awakenings
A 100-word mini-fic
Lying still,
so still
slowly, painfully, carefully,
Sami opened her eyes
but kept them close together
to shield them from
too much bright white light.
Where was
she?
And who was in the room with her?
she wondered.
"Oh,
Sami, you’re awake,"
she heard in muffled tones.
The familiar voice startled her.
She turned
her head slightly
and wondered why Lucas was there.
Where was she
anyway?
Why was Lucas
looking so strange?
"Sami,
you don’t know
how worried we’ve been."
Lucas walked to her and grabbed her hand.
She started to scream,
but couldn’t.
She was forced into silence.
